A tragic incident in a quiet rural area of County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, has left a community in mourning after two children and one adult lost their lives in a devastating shooting.

Authorities confirmed that three members of the same household died from gunshot wounds on Wednesday morning in Maguiresbridge, a small village located approximately 25 miles south of Omagh. Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third later died in hospital. An additional adult male remains hospitalised with gunshot-related injuries.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received an emergency call at 8:21 AM (BST). They dispatched three units along with an air ambulance. One individual was flown to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, and another was taken to the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen.

Speaking to the media, Superintendent McGowan described the incident as "deeply distressing" for all personnel involved in the emergency. He confirmed that a murder investigation is now underway. No arrests have been made, and the police do not anticipate making any at this time.

"We are working to fully understand the circumstances surrounding this incident," McGowan said, adding that officers will maintain a presence in the Drummeer Road area, where the scene remains cordoned off.

The Drummeer Road area, usually a peaceful rural location, has been closed off since early morning. A police vehicle blocks access, and investigators continue to work behind a cordon where a growing media presence has gathered.

Local political leaders expressed shock and sympathy as details began to emerge.

Deborah Erskine, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Democratic Unionist Party, urged the public not to jump to conclusions while the police conduct their investigation.

"This is truly devastating and has shaken not just Maguiresbridge, but all of Fermanagh," she said.
"It's a quiet area — things like this are unheard of here."

Similarly, Sinn Féin MP Pat Cullen said the community was "heartbroken" by the loss and emphasised support for the families affected. She also paid tribute to the emergency workers, saying they were forced to act under "unimaginably difficult conditions."

Justice Minister Naomi Long extended her sympathies to those affected and urged the public to refrain from online speculation until the facts are confirmed by investigators.

"This is a horrible event," she said. "Now is the time for empathy and privacy for those suffering."
